The Moral High Ground are a diverse ensemble with a unique global sound that effortlessly combines Reggae, Roots and Blues. Incorporating an acoustic fervour likened to Ben Harper, and the snaking grooves of a funk band of another era, The Moral High Ground’s repertoire has audiences both dancing with reckless abandon and being entranced and inspired by the warmth of beautiful ballads of singer/songwriter David Spry. An Indigenous Australian singer/songwriter, David is fiercely proud of his roots and his modern perspective of Indigenous culture features prominently in his music. David draws influence from his world travels, lost love and future hopes through heartfelt, powerful and uplifting songs with a positive upbeat vibe.
David has made his mark in the Australian music scene sharing stages alongside talents such as Busby Marou, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Ash Grunwald, Andrew Strong, Jeff Lang and Archie Roach (as part of his Indigenous Gospel Choir). With numerous songwriting recognitions including top ten nationwide finalist in the Australian Independent Music Awards 2013, television features on NITV and Larrakia TV, sell-out shows and festival performances, Spry and The Moral high Ground are solidifying the fresh new sound of Australian Reggae and forging new storylines for Contemporary Indigenous music.
