Spawned of successful local bands, the Velvet Marias, the Dirty Truth, Workhorse Blue and a plethora of other combos, the TCMs were the result of a need to play straight up, honkin' country--not honky tonk, not cross-over, but straight-up songs about loving, leaving, drinking too much and paying for it, and the hardscrabble living that just flat goes along with all that.
The Richmond, VA-based Trailer Court Marshals are the authorities on what is swarthy, edgy throw-back country with a nod to alt.country gods Steve Earle, Jason and the Nashville Scorchers, but with a reverent bow to the real deals: George Jones, Bill Monroe, Hank Williams Sr, JR Cash, Buck Owens, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, and the rest of those standing on the front porch of the country music Parthenon.
The Trailer Court Marshals enjoy cornhole, dark whiskeys, real old amplifiers with lots of tubes, Stella Artois, fly fishing for big low-country reds.
