Based out of Southern New England, Kenney is a group of three hardworking high school musicians who all come from very different musical backgrounds. They're music has been featured on radio stations such as Black Collar Radio and Rock Def Radio in Philly, as well as UNregular Radio in Boston.
Matthew Kenney, lead guitar and vocals, has been around music all of his life. He began playing guitar at the age of 6 from his former school music teacher and current front man of the Invisible Orphans, Kevin Williams. Matthew's influences range from the likes of John Petrucci and David Gilmour to SRV and Hendrix. His playing is a very melodic style but at times can be very edgy. Kenney has deep roots in the blues and in prog-rock and his writing, along with Nate Sievers writing, has a very classic but unique sound to it.
Nate Sievers, bass, has been wielding axes for just as long as Matthew has. His playing has both deep roots in thrash and in punk, providing an excellent cross to the bands blues rock vibe. Nate is one of the primary writters for the Birds and his music is an essential part to the Birds sound and energy.
Max Newman, drums, formed the group with guitarist Matthew Kenney in 2011 with one goal in mind, to make music that transcends genres. Max is a very experienced drummer with roots in prog-rock. He began playing the drums when he was 10 years old, and has been around music all his life. Max's playing holds the group's rhythm section together and adds to the band's signature sound and style.
