"A little bit country and a whole lot of rock and roll" describes Edmonton, Alberta-based Dahlia Wakefield, a charismatic powerhouse country rock singer-songwriter with three commercial CDs released under her independent label, Squirrelly Girl Music. She won the 2013 Global Country Star Search in her category and traveled to Nashville in March 2014. Dahlia competed in the 2014 NACMAI competitions in Pigeon Forge, TN and was the recipient of four awards.
Dahlia released her new single "UNSATISFIED" to Canadian National Country Radio in January 2013 and was the winner of the Emerging Artists Showdown on Country 103 in Kamloops. Her first radio single, "All The Way To Heaven", was promoted to Canadian country radio by Lauren Tutty Promotions in 2013.
Dahlia has had the honor of singing the national anthem for the Edmonton Prospects, the bilingual Canadian national anthem for the Tim Horton's Brier at Rexall Place, and performed the U.S. and Canadian national anthems at the Edmonton Indy races. She was also part of a group that performed for the Opening Ceremonies of the 2012 Women's Baseball World Cup at Telus Field. She has shared the stage with many amazing acts such as PRISM, Albert Lee, John Jorgenson & Will Ray of the Hellecasters, Johnny Hiland, and more.
Dahlia graduated with Distinction from the music program at Grant MacEwan University, loves being a vocal coach at Cooper Studios in Sherwood Park and is also a busy mom of two little girls who also love to sing. Several of her songs have placed as high-ranking finalists in several international songwriting contests.
Currently, Dahlia is working on a brand new country/rock album, and is performing at events in and around the Edmonton area in many configurations - from solo act, three piece act called "Triple Threat" to her own 4 piece band as well as female quintet called "Dirt Road Angels". Dahlia looks forward to a lifetime of making music and is certainly an artist to watch!
