I've always wanted to have a band named Naked Singularity. A singularity is a black hole, a point in the universe of infinite density. Not even light can escape the powerful pull of a singularity. Normally, a singularity cannot be seen, it can only be predicted. However, a naked singularity is observable. In a naked singularity, anything that has ever happened can be seen, anything is possible, and time has no meaning. I like this idea.
My song writing is completely from the cuff. I have no formal training of any kind on any instrument. I grew up pounding away at a piano, and I have played acoustic guitar for as long as I can remember. I have always written, but never record myself. Thus, most of my thoughts and melodies have been lost.
I played bass for several really cool bands including, SAVAX, Violation and Six Foot Graphic and recorded with several bands as a bass player, in a studio, with professionals. This is my first attempt at recording my own songs. I have no experience as a recording engineer, I have never been recorded playing guitar or singing, I don’t know anything about producing, mixing or mastering. I’M HAVING A BLAST!
I’m planning to release about ten songs this year and will consider it my first album, though I will release them as I complete them (one at a time). I have no long term goals. I simply want to share my music. I hope someone besides me finds my sounds enjoyable.
I have recently reconnected with an old friend, Randy Pasco, who lives about a thousand miles away in Colorado. The first song we did together (Keep it to Yourself), was written and recorded as an instrumental by Randy and stored on soundcloud for almost a year. I added the vocals here in Chicago usign my PC and Reaper. Not a bad first effort for band mates who haven’t jammed together in 25 years! More to come.
