Strictly from Hunger / Bio

Hunger was a band from the kaleidoscope years of the 60's that defined psychedelic rock music. The line-up was Mike Lane(lead vocalist),John Morton(lead guitar and main songwriter),Steve Hansen(rhythm and lead guitar),Tom Tanory(bass guitar),Michael Parkison( hammond organ),Bill Daffern(drums and lead vocal),Gene Gunnels(drums) and Ed King( lead guitar).Ed King and Gene Gunnels came from Strawberry Alarm Clock after the band broke up.Hunger played with top name acts at big venues with such bands as The Cream with Eric Clapton,The Doors,The Animals,Procol Harum,The Allman Brothers,Frank Zappa,The Who,Buffalo Springfield with Neil Young,Steppan Wolf to name just a few of the legendary greats. Hungers sound was considered heavy and dark focusing on strong keyboards and driving guitars. The content of the music itself delved into the human psyche and the music was spellbinding with strange and precise arrangements to capture the listener. It was not accepted as general music for the times and was mostly considered underground music way ahead of it's time delving into dissonant and uncharted territory.Hunger paved the way for bands today to be truly creative in their sound so music is more diverse and personal.I'm honored to have been part of the renaissance of modern rock including progressive rock, jazz and even heavy metal.
