Looking to add to the rich history of Los Angele's underground scene is The Concepts. The band truly made a start in college with guitarist Zane Guindon and drummer Justin Lenoir around the year 2008. The emcee Keith Kilgore had met Justin through a mutual friend who brought him only to enjoy another friends party. When a cypher started, Keith jumped in to spit a verse and Justin was interested off potential as Keith didn't have his style yet. After finding similarities in musical taste, they decided to begin working together. Soon enough Justin brought Keith to meet Zane and they began playing beats for him. Keith was blown away at how different the instrumentals sounded from anything he previously worked on. Frustrated by his past producers trying to mold him to well known artists at the time, the common thread between the three was to make music that was different than anything heard before. He wrote a verse on the spot that sparked the trio to start creating together.
Nearly 6 months into writing, they decided to add a keyboardist and bassist. Coincidentally Justin ran into Nick Vanetta after not seeing each other for a decade post high school. Between talking and catching up, Justin learned that Nick was a passionate musician that could play keys and asked if he would like to come jam with the three of them. Nick came to play one time and the band was so cohesive that they never practiced without him again. The last piece missing was a bassist who the band began holding try outs to fill the position. Ryan Wright, a childhood friend of Justin's, attended an early try out but was reluctant to join due to a busy schedule with other bands he had obligations with. Months after trying other bassists out, Ryan decided to give it another chance. When all five had come together again, the music was so impressive to a group of friends spectating that the band began writing songs. From then on the band started working on a collection of tracks to make the Death By Way of Living EP, which is due to come out very soon. For now they continue to play venues and build a sound that starts now and lives forever.
