Cedric Halbert who is known by his childhood name “SAID” welcomes you to his Music Ministry here you will find the smooth sounds of Gospel’s newest arrival. God has blessed him to create his own sound, with the help of producer/songwriter/videographer and childhood friend Gentry McGowan Jr. this style of Gospel Music is what he calls “smoothed out Gospel”. SAID is a Gospel/Inspirational Artist that is doing something different that will separate him from the other Contemporary Gospel Artist. Every Artist needs their own identity, his Music Ministry is geared toward the youth, in which he has a youth outreach ministry that he is about to launch sometime this year. But he also has songs that the elderly can relate to; he focuses on being a versatile artist. SAID has been singing since the young tender age of 8 yrs old, he was influenced by Ralph Tresvant, lead singer of “The New Edition” and that’s how it all started. There are a host of artist that have inspired and birthed the hunger in SAID’s life a few names from the R & B side is the legendary Smoky Robinson, Bernard Jackson of the group “Surface”, Philip Bailey of Earth Wind & Fire and the late Gerald Levert, and a very talented local singing group by the name of “Masters Touch”. On the Gospel side the late Frank Williams of the “Jackson Southernaires”, Harvey Watkins of “The Canton Spirituals”, Tonex Detrick Haddon, J Moss and Smokie Norful. Early in SAIDS career in the R & B field he sang in groups that opened up for the Isley Bros, Lo Key and Enchantment. As an R & B solo act he opened up for the group “Next” As a Gospel Artist he has ministered in song at Six Flags, The Black Rep Theater, Better Family Life Peace Fest, San Antonio Texas,The Kwanza Holiday Expo, The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. celebration at Powell Symphony Hall. Also SAID sang at Sigmma Gamma Rho 43RD Anniversary. He is also a member of the St. Louis Symphony in Unison Chorus Choir. SAID also sang his rendition of The Star Spangled Banner for the River City Rascals Baseball team, the Gateway Grizzlies, St. Louis Women Billikens Speed Skating Competition at Queeny Complex, Founders High School Hockey Founders Cup at Queeny Complex, and Demetrius Johnson Foundation Basketball Team at Soldan High School, and the Memphis Redbirds. Currently SAID has just released his debut single and music video titled, “Wonderful Love”. SAID is an ordained minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and Overseer of Mesarim Tabernacle where Bishop Walter C Maddox is the Pastor. His ministry began under the late Dr. Ronald C. Bridewell of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in 2001. SAID also is active in the community, he has done voluntary work for Fellowship Christian Athletes, Cardinals Care,also he is a member of the 100 Black Men of St. Louis .SAID also mentors the youth on Christian values,Character Development/Self Identity,and Integrity,and does motivational speaking to help the youth to strive for their dreams,with God on SAID’s side his music and service will bless and touch the lives of people around the world and help spread the wonderful Love God has given him. SAID’s dream is to be in full time ministry and he is married with 3 children.
