Born in 1986 in the South Shore of Montreal as the 3rd and last child of his family, Castle 9 began rapping at the age of 14 in bars with his friends. With role models like Cypress Hills, Bone Thugz N Harmony, Rakim, Xzibit and Eminem, he learned a lot about rapping and how to develop his flow. Coming from a hard working family which encountered many dramatic situations regarding the children; his dream of rapping wasn’t shared by his parents. Castle 9 kept doing what he loved as a side job and always kept music as a priority and hopefully a career. Trying to find his way in the rap business he encountered many unstable producers until 2006 when he met Kevin Scott. Castle had a plan to build his own Hip-Hop label, but at first he had to find the right people to work with. After two years working with Kevin Scott, Castle met Matt Baker at school. At a time when Matt Baker had never made a Hip-Hop beat. It’s with Castle 9 that he began crafting Hip-Hop music. Together, the three of them formed the basis to any rap Label. Castle came up with the name Red Rum Records for the rap label which was going to be ran by Kevin as the owner, Matt as the main beat maker and producer and castle himself as the co-owner and director of internal affairs. His love for music pushed him to help others make it in the business and eventually, is the reason why he felt compelled to bring new rappers to the table like Da KID and The Rugged Child. In 2011, with a label formed with 9 rappers including castle 9, they’ve released their first mix tape called The Foundation. Castle 9 is presently working on his debut album which is scheduled to be released in early 2012. Until then, keep looking for Castles work because at any moment a new song could be released, ready to tear it up.
