Band66 are a band from Wicklow Ireland, Our lead man Shay is music writer and lyricist while also being lead singer and guitarist. All our music is original and of an alternative genre.
We were signed by an Irish record company, Near Records, in 2012 to record two tracks on a compilation album ‘Near Musical Express’ which is currently on sale in music stores in Dublin and can be downloaded digitally. The two tracks we recorded are Call my Name and Rainbows.
We recorded our debut EP ‘Tribal Dance’ which features the 5 singles Tribal Dance, Planet Earth, Martin, Clowns and Priest earlier this year The digital distribution of this EP has been signed to Soundwrx Digital in the UK and is available to download at http://www.soundwrx.net/tribal_dance/html
We recently headed back to Studio to commence our journey in recording the album ‘She Glows’. We completed recording on the first song of this album, an edgy single called ‘Chic a Boom’ which will be released shortly under CD Baby.
As regards Gigs, in 2012 we had a number of really good gigs in Dublin for the launch of Near Records and the subsequent launch of Near Musical Express. We also played at a number of music festivals during the summer and played in a well known Dublin venue for the infamous Arthurs Day. We also played a number of acoustic sets on live shows on Dublin Radio Stations which brought us a lot of attention in the Public Eye. We are holding off on Gigs for the near future as we are going to concentrate all our energies into this forthcoming album.
At end of 2012 Band66 were nominated for 3 Irish MRU (Music Review Unsigned) awards; best newcomer 2012 award, best alternative rock act 2012 and best single for 2012 for our song Planet Earth which features on the EP ‘Tribal Dance’.
