2012 is looking good for Manflu. After previous plays by Radio 1’s Huw Stephens, Artrocker FM and Mike Watt, Xfm’s John Kennedy made ‘Wizard’ an X-Posure ‘Hot One’ in January.
Formed in 2009 and now London-based, the five members originate from five different countries: Kazakhstan, USA, Japan, France and England. These very different backgrounds bring a vast range of influences which makes each song unique.
Their sound crosses many genres, from Polka to Avant-Garde to Rock to Pop. They have been compared to the likes of Can, Devo, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Lydia Lunch.
Their energetic live shows are making their name known across the usual London venues - from headline shows at The Macbeth and Catch, to Camden Barfly, The Lexington, Hoxton Bar and Kitchen, Proud Galleries and Cargo, as well as warehouse parties throughout London.
While continuing to play live shows in London, Manflu is looking for events further afield and for festival slots. They are planning to record and release material documenting their current set while they continue to write new material at somewhat alarming rate.
