" I feel like my main job right now is to try and change the world by telling my story through music. We are in a state of emergency so-to-speak in this country and more positive change is necessary. I feel like it's my duty to help bring the world together through hip-hop music." For those of you who don't know his story, "CHASE," born Chavor Malik Humbert grew up in a single parent home with his mother and his now oldest sister. At the tender age of 11 years old, he lost his mother. From then on his family began separating and were fully dysfunctional. Between the ages of 11-15 he was bounced around from family member to family member until he was eventually placed in a group home. It was there that he discovered he had a passion and was a very talented writer as he began writing his own raps and recording them at the Boys and Girls Club of Northern Westchester. Between recording, being in school, and playing sports all he ever wanted to do was ball out so that's what he did to best of his ability.
Before he knew it, he was a senior in high school, college began to roll around and all he knew was that he wanted to make music. It was in his senior year of high school that he discovered that he had lost his father was murdered. Not the typical way of growing up for many of the young world but this is why he feels like he can make a change in the world. After facing so much adversity and having to deal with so much loss, "CHASE" still overcame all of it. Before he knew it, he was applying to colleges and ended up going to a Community College in Utica, NY. From there, he continued on taking classes and full-time and eventually transferred and pursued a degree in Communication Studies in Cortland, NY. He stayed more behind the scenes where he hosted his own radio show once a week, hosted Open Mic Night, and was a Co-Music Coordinator. Times haven't changed and soon enough "CHASE" will be a household name and will hold a stake in the hip-hop culture.
