The Trees hail from Missoula, Montana, where the quartet met at the University of Montana. The four lads share a passion for classic bands like The Beatles, The Kinks, T. Rex, CCR, and The Rolling Stones, but are also heavily influenced by the like of Weezer, Wilco, Grizzly Bear, Foxygen, and The Flaming Lips. They attempt to bridge the gap between oldie and indie through melodic hooks, a dancy rhythm section, and harmony rich vocals. After two years of playing packed house shows, bike co-op fundraisers, band battles, and bar venues, they produced their first album, Heartsleeves, at Voodoo Studios in Boulder, MT in May of 2013.
The Trees took a pause in action for nearly a year while the boys went their separate ways after college. After realizing the real world wasn't nearly as much fun without playing rock shows, the band decided to move to Portland, OR together to pick up where they left off and to start working on new material.
Currently, three out of the four share a house in SE Portland where they are working on their second album and annoy their neighbors by developing new music on a very regular basis.
