Yolanda R. is an R&B/Soul Singer, Songwriter, and Recording Artist from New York City who performs R&B/Soul, Pop, Jazz and Gospel. She trained classically at LaGuardia High School of Music & the Arts. Singing since her youth, she has sung at various venues throughout New York City and NJ – including an impromptu performance at the world famous BB Kings Club in NYC!
The top selling original tune Bring Ur Lovin' Home is her most popular song and has been played on countless radio stations all over the world, recently winning the Akademia Award for Best R&B/Soul song in April 2013.
Why was her first original song released in Dec. 2011. Years ago, after ending a short term relationship on a sour note, she wrote* the tune. The originality and authenticity of “Why” resulted in Yolanda R. being selected as the Arzuk.com Artist of the Week for April 22-28, 2013. Her second most popular tune, “Meandering”, landed in a Top 10 radio countdown for 2 weeks straight.
As a recording artist she has released 2 EP’s – in July 2012 she released her debut CD/EP entitled Yolanda’s Voice which is a compilation of originals, standards and some creatively reworked covers. This recording won the XPoze-ing Music Award in August 2013 for Best R&B Album. Her mini EP A Few of My Thoughts... (all originals) was released later in November 2012.
She has also been a Featured Vocalist on several tracks for other artists. In Dec. 2010 she was the featured artist on Harmonik's Nervana Remix electronica single. In November 2012 she collaborated with the artist Aka: man, performing a cover of Life's What You Make It. In 2013 she did a duet with Pop singer Ywan on his song No Air and yet another electronica collaboration with Synch Dub entitled Crystal of A Dream. She released her first Xmas song It's Not Christmas Without You, which was written by A. Williams Jr. & H. Kelley in November 2014. Lie to Me, released this past February, started off 2015 excellently featuring an original and extended cut of this tune written by Mello D. Lane. In April 2015 Yolanda R. rejoined the artist aka:man on another collaboration, his self-penned tune entitled The Flower.
Raynbow Affair Magazine, DJ Readman, Poze Radio, Melvin Jordan of Legend 107 Radio, The Urban Forum Show, Dr V., T’Love and Evan Ginzburg have all interviewed this talented rising singer. Other honors include features on dozens of websites such as Bruce Hawes Creative Arts Site, Chessboard Radio, Bibliocracy, Musiqe Al Blog, Radio KC, NewUSB, Arzuk.com, Butterflies Radio, the Indiebiz.com and many more. She was voted a June 2012 VIP at Poze Productions and is a VIP Featured Artist in all three issues of Poze Magazine.
