Matt Heckler is a folk singer, singing introspective songs about all aspects of life. He started playing guitar as a preteen, and wrote his first song at fifteen. Since then, he has played open mics in small towns around Chicago, and over the last year has come out of his shell and started to play venues in Chicago and Milwaukee, as well as the south suburbs and northwest Indiana.
Often compared to singer/songwriters Elliott Smith, Iron & Wine, Leonard Cohen, and Bob Dylan, Matt's songs are deeply personal and often a bit on the sad side, but known for their interesting guitar styles and a deep, warm, remarkable voice. Despite working a full-time job during the week, Matt is out multiple times a week trying to get his songs out there in between periods of recording as he works on his debut record, "A Portrait of."
