Dientes de Caramelo (Candy Teeth) is a rock band where indie rock meets the vocal sounds from the south of Spain. The project started taking shape in 2008 when flamenco guitarist Jed Miley began working with flamenco singer Alfonso Cid at New York clubs. Soon they discovered they shared a common ambition to combine flamenco vocals with rock music. Jed had grown up in Seattle listening to the rock bands from the local scene but he never found a way to fuse the two until he began working with Alfonso. Together they began composing material and establishing a sound. Dientes de Caramelo strives to bring poetry within beautiful powerful melodies; this gives Alfonso the freedom to write lyrics without paying attention to the traditional flamenco aesthetics. Dientes de Caramelo’s lyrics are urban, deeply infused by the life in today's world. Rock guitarist, also from Seattle, Kevin Bookhamer “Martillo”, brought even more of a rocking aspect to the project, taking it to another melodic level of distortion and SHREDDING. Kevin took on board guitarist Chris Morell from Queens, New York, he is a wizard, his guitar swells come from a magic wand of emotions. Bassist Peter Teresi from New Jersey is a jazz fusion master who grooves with drummer Shimon Hikri “The Boner” from Tel-Aviv, Israel, they complete Dientes de Caramelo which has become a true “FLAMINDIE” band, combining flamenco sounds with indie rock.
