Eleonora R / Bio

How it all began
I pretty much grew up with music, my father being the master of many an instrument which included, guitar, concertina, and the harmonica. We lived in a small town call Louis Trichardt in South Africa. My father and his sisters would harmonize a lot and our living room was usually filled with singing and music on Sundays. At an early age, my father realized I could sing and ‘I don’t want to play house’ became the first song that I would sing to visitors in our lounge or at gatherings.
At school I was always asked to sing the solos, and I joined the school choir. Music faded out of my life for quite a number of years, with divorce removing the music from our living room, and the rest of our lives were dedicated to survival, school and growing up. When I got married to my first husband, I had the opportunity to sing at a local country festival, but he wasn’t to keen, so with lack of motivation and support, I dropped out and my singing career died there.

In 2005 I met and married my husband Chris. It was pure chance that I was singing softly in the car one day that he slammed on brakes and asked me to sing out loud, well, the rest is pretty much awesome. He bought a karaoke set, a microphone and some backtracks, and singing in the lounge started again. When we moved to the city, he contacted a local recording studio, and I was taken there to do some recordings. It was very weird hearing my own voice. We then decided to move to New Zealand, and Chris has pretty much tried to get me to sing at every function we go to.
