Droppin Eaves / Bio

Droppin Eaves is a Rock cover band from the Tampa Bay, FL. area. Playing music from the 70's to current.

Greg's interests range from the heaviest metal and punk to blues, jazz, techno, classical, and "world" music. A music geek since early childhood, he picked up his first guitar in 1986 and kicked things off by learning Led Zeppelin's "Black Dog" and "Living Loving Maid (She's Just a Woman)". From there it was all downhill into the dark and beautiful world of rock, metal and punk, with AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, The Misfits, Bad Religion, and numerous others charting his path of development as a musician. He shared the stage with Tracy and Jeff in Sanctoria and assisted with the band’s songwriting, drawing on past personal experience for his subject matter. He too recently worked on the project Grim Drifter.

Tracy has been playing the guitar for the past twenty five years. He started his musical journey by learning "Smoke on the Water" and "Hall of the Mountain King". His influences are Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, The Misfits, and Slayer, to name a few. He had some local success in the 90’s with metal acts Sanctoria and Sub Zero, using the political issues of the times for his writing palette. In 2009-10 he worked on the project Grim Drifter.

Mike started playing piano in kindergarten and switched to the bass guitar at the age of 10. While in high school in Elmira, NY, he played with "3rd Story" which changed its name to "The Noise Next Door." While in college, Mike played in the cover band “Modus Tollens” from Keuka Park, NY. After which, he went to play with "Inward”, Playing out of Dundee, NY. He spent over 2 years with “Inward” touring and recording. In 2012, he helped record the soundtrack to an independent film called "SRQ State of Mind”. His influences range from metal to more intricate lines thanks to the influence of Flea, Les Claypool, Victor Wooten, and most importantly, his good friend Rob McConnell who plays in the band “Papadosio”. In late 2012, Mike moved to Florida.

Jeff has over twenty years of experience behind the drums. Starting off with a mish-mash of drums and cymbals cobbled together from various kits, he developed an aggressive and yet controlled style born out of the milieu of late 80s and early 90s speed and death metal. The influences of Slayer, Anthrax, and Metallica are immediately apparent to the listener, carried along on a wave of rapid-fire double bass. But his playing is much more than mere onslaught, with nuance changes and an overall sense of timing that speaks to his natural feel for rhythm. Jeff also worked on Grim Drifter.

Trey is a classicly trained vocalist that studied Opera and Classic American Songbook Jazz. A veteran stage performer for over 20 years he has helmed numerous musicals up and down the East Coast. A huge fan of numerous styles of music, he has participated in a number of musical projects over the years including performing in a Tribute to Black Music and his one time pet project a modern rock band The UK Gypsies. He cites diverse vocal infuences as Tony Bennett, Jimmy Barnes of Cold Chisel, Farrouk Bulsara, Otis Redding and Damien Rice. His songwritting style he likens lyricall to E.E. Cummings, A. E. Housman and James Joyce and musically to Smokey Robinson, Lou Reed, Robbie Robertson and folk rock singer songwriters.
