Welcome to the Machine
On October 1st, 2012, on the 44th anniversary of George Romero’s Night of the Living Dead, Asheville space-rock band Silver Machine released Silver Machine: Night of the Living Dead, which consists of a standalone concept album accompanied by a complete remastering of the 1968 film with a new soundtrack composed and performed by the band. The DVD edition features the highest picture quality ever released on DVD, as well as the original sound score on a secondary audio track. Digital downloads of the album include a download of the film as well. The album in its entirety can be streamed for free at www.silver-machine.net
World Premier: November 15, 2012 at the Asheville Fine Arts Theatre 9:30pm
Formed in 2008, Silver Machine spent the first three years developing their unique sound, which features the Theremin – an otherworldly electronic instrument from the 1920’s, funky bass and drum grooves, shimmering guitars, synthesizer effects, and filtered vocal harmonies. They recorded their first studio album, and performed at festivals and clubs throughout the southeast both as a headliner and in support of such acts as Boombox, Pnuma Trio, Conspirator, and the Malah. Their self-titled debut was released in 2010, and their first live album was recorded at the Autumnal Equinox of that year during an epic 4-hour set.
In June 2011, Silver Machine performed a “farewell” show at the Orange Peel in Asheville, NC, before retreating into their studio-equipped spaceship to begin work on new material. In May of 2012 they released their sophomore album, “Symmetry,” after a successful crowd funding campaign. They went on to record the first ever original soundtrack to George Romero's "Night of the Living Dead", which was released in October 2012 with the highest picture quality ever mastered to DVD. Silver Machine has already begun work on their next album, which can be described as “something completely different,” and is making preparations to score another film for release in 2013.
