Honest Soul is a musical experiment.
What happens when you combine the gut-wrenching authenticity of a blues singer, the rhythmic sense of classic R&B, the complex harmonic structure of jazz, and the whole-hearted lyrical honesty of folk music? What happens when the many roots of roots music are planted in a single garden? Colin Robison's Honest Soul… that's what happens.
Featuring Colin Robison's songs and vocals on an old Fender Rhodes or a Telecaster; Marty Lyman on Electric guitar, Brian Thurber on Drums, Tyler Lambourne on Bass, and everybody singing some harmonies, this band lives by it's name: Honest Soul Music, from some honest souls.
Within 8 weeks of releasing their debut album in July 2011, Utah's own Honest Soul opened for Michael Franti & Spearhead at Red Butte Garden, for Jimmie Vaughan and subsequently Charles Bradley at The Stateroom, as well as headlining The Depot for their CD release party; and has also received radio airplay on KRCL (Utah's public radio), and UtahFM.org.
