Hickory Wind's country folk rooted sound draws from bluegrass, rock-a-billy, folk, classic country standards, roots and Americana with a touch of blues and rock. In addition to appealing to traditional country style music fans, this fun loving energetic sound also appeals to those not necessarily attracted to country. That being said, the “Hickory Wind” sound would be familiar to anyone who knows the music of Emmylou Harris and the Hot Band, the Byrds, and Graham Parsons. Centered around the lovely and distinctive voice of Cheryll Kent, Hickory Wind is known for its tight vocals and tasty instrumental leads. Typically a five piece band, they also perform as a duo or trio with Cheryll Kent on rhythm guitar and lead vocals, Fred Kent on bass and vocals, (the duo), adding either Conrad Nelson on lead guitar, mandolin, fiddle and vocals, or Dave Wren on pedal steel guitar (the trio), and Jamie Faw on drums/vocals (the band).
