When her mom bought her a piano at the age of eight, Marge Loveday could not have imagined that one day she would use it to write her debut album. She recorded Who I Am in 2006 at Sound Cell Studio with engineers Doug Smith and Dave Anderson. Anderson also did most of the instrumentation, but it was Marge’s warm vocals and heartfelt songwriting that won her a loyal following. Her solo show intertwined original music with covers from all genres drawing in fans of all ages and walks of life. It was those fans, who voted her the Best Female Singer in the Valley Planet’s Best of the Valley Reader’s Poll in 2005, 2006 and 2007. She has also remained in the top two every year since.
And if that wasn’t enough, six years later Loveday was formed. After hearing some of her new material, Noel Webster invited Marge to record at her dream studio, Muscle Shoals Sound. Within a few hours, Marge, Katie Herron, and Jason Rogers turned her solo project into a full band project and hit the studio the next day. Reno Roberts later joined us in the studio , adding electric guitar, vocals and bass to the record and immediately became the final member of Loveday. Bringing Marge’s vocals, keys, and acoustic guitar together with Katie Herron on drums, Reno Roberts on vocals and electric guitar, and Jason Rogers on vocals and bass, they make a group that is strong both instrumentally and vocally as well as every member being a great songwriter. With that much talent working together it was no surprise that they released their most recent album, Let it Shine, in September with two packed out cd release shows. Let it Shine was recorded at the famous Muscle Shoals Sound with engineer Noel Webster and includes eight original tracks written by Marge. With influences from every genre including rock, blues, pop, folk, Motown, bluegrass, and even gospel their live show covers everything from Coldplay, White Stripes, Gavin DeGraw, and Michael Jackson to classics like The Rolling Stones, Grateful Dead, Ray Charles, and Bill Withers.
