I Have been singing before I could talk. I come from a very musical family on my Mom's side. Back in the day when radio was a form of entertainment-my Mom's Aunt was a singer on a regular program. My Grandfather was a Barbershop Quartet singer along with my two Uncles. I used to listen to them practice and I loved the sound!
My first instrument of choice was the piano. My Mom played and sang and eventually when we were older she became a professional singer and pianist. I begged for lessons until finally when I was 8 years old my Mom signed me up and I was determined to be my teacher,Nappy Gagnon's, best student. Wow-he was a screamer-I walked out in tears most weeks but I was still determined to get through a lesson without him yelling-and it finally happened.
Fast forward to my 20's I was still taking lessons from various teachers and had no confidence-tho. No matter how talented people said I was-inside I just didn't feel it. Years passed, I graduated college, started my own business teaching piano and eventually voice-and my confidence was finally where it should be. I went out on gigs with one band and then went off with my Mom as a duo and did a lot of gigs with her. Now-I just do special events and spend most of my time playing, singing, and trying always to improve- and teaching in my own studio in Brockton, Mass. I love my job!
