Eddie Moore and The Outer Circle / Bio

Eddie Moore, accomplished pianist, composer, music director and bandleader, is Jazz Music’s champion and rising stars. Raised in Houston, Tx. Eddie was a musical prodigy. He began playing the piano at age four and mastered the violin and percussion by the time he reached his teens. As a result he was recognized for his talent and won numerous competitions at the state and local level while in public school.

Influenced by Miles Davis, A Tribe Called Quest,, Earth Wind and Fire, Frank Zappa and the study of western classical music, he developed his own unique style of expression. In 2004 his music pursuit lead him to Texas Southern University, in Houston, TX, where his musical focus and course of study become Jazz. This deeply rooted interest served as a launching pad for his future success. While at TSU he had the opportunity to work with music greats such as Kirk Whalum, Andre Haywood, Horace Young and soul artist, Ayah that lead him to perform at Texas music festivsal SXSW. He recorded an album and performed extensively with rock/fusion band Neon Collars that opened for Erykah Badu, Mos Def, Bilal, and the Robert Glasper Experiment.

In search for his family roots and a deeper knowledge of the Jazz tradition he moved to Kansas City, MO and began working on his Masters in Jazz studies at the Conservatory of Music and Dance at the University of Missouri. During this period Eddie shared the stage with Roy Hargrove, Joe Chambers, Maurice Brown and Kansas City legends Bobby Watson, Logan Richardson, Pam Watson and Lonnie McFadden.

Upon graduation in 2012 he formed a quartet called Eddie Moore and the Outer Circle. Outer Circle under Eddie’s leadership has been nominated for Best Jazz Band two years running. Teaming with Pat Adams, DeAndre Manning and Adam Schlozman, Outer Circle has recorded two CDs including the most recent project, “Kings and Queens.” This highly anticipated musical collection includes compositions from Eddie's dynamic quartet and more of his original works. Kings and Queens is a suite that speaks to the journey of African music from its origin to its passionate influence on Jazz, R&B, Gospel, and Hip Hop.

Eddie’s skill and diversity keeps him sought out by other musicians and singers to collaborate and perform on their projects. Appearing on projects from Kemet Coleman (R&B), Zack Mufasa (Reggae), Various Blonde (Psych Rock), Dominique Sanders, Bobby Watson (Jazz), and Book of Gaia (Jazz). Eddie is quickly becoming a Jazz voice both on the national and international scene. He has repeatedly been called to perform at national Jazz festivals and has traveled to Costa Rica to perform for the president at the Limon Roots African Cultural Festival. When not on the road Eddie can be found with his quartet playing in Kansas City's hottest venues,Take Five, The Greenlady Lounge, The Blue Room, Broadway Jazz Club, and the Record Bar.
