Rick “Honeyboy” Hart has been a musician for over 40 years. He traveled the typical road of a child of the sixties and played all kinds of music over his career. His first band “Youth Well Spent” was a classic hippie jam band of the era with influences from Gram Parsons to The Grateful Dead. But underlying all of his music was a deep love for the blues and roots rock and roll.
As his musical education evolved his strong influences included Eric Clapton, Led Zepplin, The Rolling Stones, The Yardbirds, The Doors, and many others. But soon he realized these groups were all influenced by music that had come before. That lead him to Chuck Berry, Muddy Waters, Sonny Boy Williamson, Albert King, BB King, Albert Collins, Louis Jordon, and many, many other of the original creators of rhythm and blues and roots rock and roll.
He also began to learn that there were many flavors of the blues including West Coast Jump, New Orleans Funk and Second Line, straight-ahead Chicago Blues, Delta Blues, and Jazzy Blues. You’ll see all of those styles displayed in his music… and something else… something that he adds that’s sweet and tasty and yet alive and funky… something that can only be described as “honeydrippin.”
