[In Serbia] is a zazz band.
Our motto is 'as welcome as a skunk at a lawn party'.
Once upon a time, there were three blatant sociopaths who left their favourite rural villas in Serbia and absconded to the central west in NSW. There, they lurked around, half awake, half asleep, confused and disoriented.
Leaving home was like leaping out of a moving camel train. The speed of sound and a tree in a forrest with no-one around, they knew had vanished all at once, and they were left mute.
About 13 months after arriving in Orange, Frank Gore wrote a Indian pop song about missing her old band, and posted the song in an advertisement on Gumtree. And that was how her bandmates found her and [In Serbia] was born .
[In Serbia] writes songs about life and death. We sound like nothing and everything, a mix of strange and surreal, except with no kazoo. So be it. If you don't like it, you're welcome to go. If you do like it, please stay. There are more where these came from and more worlds than this.
Sometimes going away is stronger than staying, and staying is the best way to get away. if you pick yourself up and get lost, you'll find yourself looking forever for your familiar and failing that, find replacements. and if you leave Serbia behind, you will recreate it endlessly. Your geography defines you.
