Saturated rock-n-roll for those craving extra thump, crunch, and howling walls of sonic revelry, thick with turn-on-a-dime stops, starts and stomps. A healthy dose of garage swamp rock for all that ails ya - heals the sick, raises the dead and so much more!
Formed by Jeff “JD” Wood (expat of the 90s Seattle madness) and drummer Dave Friel, The Likely Hoods (TLH) has many irons in the musical fire, finding inspiration in a wide range of sources from the stomp of Zeppelin to the tongue-in-cheek fun of the Ramones and points between and far beyond. Wood and Friel began collaborating in 2007 when a clever musicians want ad by Friel coincided with Wood’s bandmates in Paleface & Just About To Burn decision to leave NYC. A brief flirtation with working as a session rhythm section team soon gave way to songwriting and eventually performing/recording under the moniker “Tight White Jeans” until establishing The Likely Hoods as their ‘hood of choice. Though Friel's 2012 departure for the greener pastures of his southwest Ohio roots has saddened the hearts of many fawning groupies, The Likely Hoods continue to ferociously kick out the jams with fresh blood in their veins as Trig Wagner (Morex Optimo, ps xo) takes over the drum throne and Jim Orr pulls it into trio formation with Entwhistleish abandon.
New tracks recorded with Kenny Lienhardt (chief FOH engineer at NYC's fabled Bowery Ballroom) are in rotation on Jango internet radio and podcasts around the world; singles, EPs, LPs, a healthy calendar of live shows and letting the good times roll are all planned for the daze ahead. Dig!
