8 Ohm Prophet is a newly formed, progressive Alt/Rock/Grunge project located in the soggy environs of Portland, Oregon. Bringing to the ear an eclectic mixture often hard to readily define by conventional genre, 8 Ohm Prophet draws skillfully from a diverse range of musical flavors including, Rock, Jazz, Funk, Metal, Blues, with even a touch of Blue Grass and Country at times. Together, in a melodic stew of sonic delight, 8 Ohm Prophet offers up the listener an original sound both familiar, while refreshingly new.

Matt Polelle, 8 Ohm Prophet's newest member, primarily uses Fender Tony Franklin signature fret less precision bass, 97 Fender American Standard Jazz, Carvin BX1200 Bass Amp with 4x10 and 1x18 cabinets respectively. Matt is a rare bird amongst bass players in that he commands a decent array of effects, using the same for tonal textures and such.
Robb Benham plays and owns a number of guitars, primarily Gibson, though as of late 2012 he seems to have settled on a 1990 Gibson Les Paul Custom "Black Beauty", a 2002 Gibson ES 135, and a Gibson Doubleneck EDS-1275. Long his main rigs, Robb's main amps are a Rivera K100 100 watt head, or a Rivera Knucklehead 55, 55 watt head either into a 4x12 w/ X pattern Blue Dogs and Vintage 30's. For effects Robb owns and uses a mind boggling array including, but by no means limited to an Eventide Time Factor, Eventide Pitch Factor, Eventide Modfactor, Line 6 M13, Morpheus Droptune, Mad professor Golden Cello, EH Big Muff (70's), Fulltone GT 500, Jim Dunlap Wah 535Q, Boss Chromatic Tuner. How he keeps track of all that is beyond most of us....

Karen Rohr, 8 Ohm Prophets electric mandolin player and back up vocalist plays several different custom, each a one of a kind, 5 String Electric Mandolin played through a Marshall JCM 800 100W Head with matching Marshall 4x12 1960A lead cab, or a Marshall JCM 2000 100 watt head into a Marshall JCM 900 1960B 4x12 cab. For effects Karen uses a Boss GT10 multi-effects unit, and/or a Line 6 Pod depending on the occasion.
