Recording artist and songwriter Paul Maged is excited to announce the upcoming release of his sophomore album, "Diamonds & Demons", the highly anticipated follow up to his debut record, "In My Time". Diamonds & Demons is produced by Multi-Platinum Producer Sean Gill.
Maged's new music announces an exciting and uncompromising voice in Alternative Rock. His songs lyrically explore concepts, social issues and universal themes that are very passionate to Maged and relevant in today’s world, helping to create a unique vision through his music.
Maged studied music at the Boston Conservatory and then attended the American Musical & Dramatic Academy in New York. He has appeared in several independent films including festival award winner “Bobby G. Can’t Swim,” and has performed stand-up comedy throughout the Tri-state area.
Maged quickly found his niche in songwriting, which he had explored off and on from a very young age. He began writing the songs that would make up his first record, In My Time, a pop/rock album with a raw, garage band feel. One of the songs recorded but left off the album, "Falling Down," would appear multiple times on MTV's show “Think Again Sex Myths Revealed.”
In 2011 while on vacation at Cape Cod, Maged began a labor of love, writing the songs to his follow up album, Diamonds & Demons. The first song written for the album was called "Images" and it set the tone literally and metaphorically for what was to come. Musically inspired by the sounds of the current Indie scene as well as Maged's own musical influences such as Pearl Jam, Green Day, Billy Joel, Elvis Costello and a plethora of classic rock, the songs flow with great energy and diversity. Lyrically the songs are purposeful; an intense exploration of today's modern day society and Maged's own struggles and questions within it, creating a conceptual feel that builds throughout the album. The vocals are delivered with passion and edge, breathing story and life into every song.
Maged is quickly becoming an integral part of the live music scene in NY, playing gigs in the NYC area with his band, The Strangers. The Strangers, a group of accomplished and ultra-talented musicians, consist of Joan Chew on Bass Guitar/Vocals, Ari Friedman on Lead Guitar/Vocals, Shawn Crowder on Drums and Maged on Lead Vocals/Songwriter. They are playing out Maged's new music as well as songs from his first album and together they bring a very organic sound to the music. The new music includes the first single to be released off the album titled "Look At Me," which boasts a sarcastic and unapologetic view of modern day elitism in today's society.
Paul Maged has taken the common definition of a Singer-Songwriter and blown it away, creating a rock band sound in the form of a Alternative Rock Singer-Songwriter.
