Marcus Paul James's born in Brooklyn, New York, child of a Baptist family and son of a DJ father. Was raised in the church and singing since he could stand. Then coming home to records of the timeless voice of Luther Vandross, Stevie Wonder and Teddy P that his mom would play. This BK life shaped his unique vocal style with a true love for R&B, soul and gospel.

He ended up writing for and performing with a 6-man acapella group called PRESSURE. Which became popular enough to be approached by a few indie record label contracts which forced the group to move to the NY area to seek new management and move closer to the music industry action.
After some failed and shading deals presented to the group, Marcus landed his first Broadway show opportunity, Tony award winning phenomenon “RENT”. He then traveled the country as one of the leads and then back to the NY Broadway stage as a featured soloist. During that time, Marcus hooks up with Jazz prodigy producer Akira Shelton. Akira being drawn to Marcus’ prolific writing and vocal arrangements, teamed up to create a soulful house EP titles “Electrik Love EP”. Mixing jazz influenced tracks with soulful vocals and arrangements. The EP ends up making a splash in the European electronic market and title track “Electrik Love” ends up getting radio play and charting on the UK electric charts.
He then moved on to the join the Tony award winning Broadway company of “In The Heights” where he meets and teams up with Director/Choreographer/Entrepreneur Michael Balderrama. Marcus’ signs with indie label Silver Towers Productions (STP), later turned Silver Towers Records (STR), and together create his first full-length album title “Meant To Be”. Title track “Meant To Be” ends up charting on the UK soul charts with tracks “Wonderful Love” and “Right Now” holding 1st and 3rd for 5 consecutive weeks.
His album is truly a fusion of harmony, soul, R&B, and a little bit of rock to make sure you feel every word.
"...Out of the plethora of music received, Marcus' music was able to break the barrier and rise to the top of the music heap. Upon listening to Marcus sing, you'll notice that he's a bit fresh and old school at the same time. Evoking memories of my favorite singer Luther Vandross, Marcus' soulful delivery and style is one that I wish would return in droves to the music scene..."
