Ashley Wey / Bio

Ashley has played piano since she was five years old and performed professionally since she was fifteen. In 2000, she attended Humber College in Toronto , where she earned her degree in Jazz Performance with honours. She received the Duke Ellington Award for arranging and composition in 2002, and was the youngest person ever to be awarded the prestigious Fraser MacPherson scholarship. Ashley’s internationally renowned teachers have included George Cables, Pat LaBarbera and Don Thompson.

Since graduating from Humber, Ashley has worked with many noteworthy artists, including 2006 Canadian Idol winner Eva Avila, Belinda Brady, Brandi Disterhaft, Mae Moore, Chris Rouse, Joni Nehrita, Pearl Kaufman, American Idol star Kimberly Locke, and the Juno Award-winning group, The Parachute Club. In 2005, she arranged songs for an orchestra conducted by one of Cuba ’s top pianists, Hilario Duran. Most recently, she has done extensive work with four-time Grammy Award winner, Manny Kellough, and appears on his latest performance DVD.

Now based in Victoria , B.C., Ashley produced her debut album, Star Seeds, this year. As producer, composer and performer, she combines all of her influences and experiences, and gives them a bold new voice that she hopes will resonate with listeners across Canada and worldwide.
