Remy Johnson is the product of the Western Township of Johannesburg, South Africa and the streets of Portland, Maine USA. As the son of an MK freedom fighter, his family went into exile and fled to the United States in the late 80s. Growing up, Remy was quickly influenced by the east coast gang culture and allure of the hustler lifestyle that consequently got him in the judicial system at a young age. He later relocated to South Africa with a view of putting the streets behind him. He delivers an introspective blend of melodic gangster rap and social commentary mixed with dark and soulfully glistening street tales delivered with profound depth in his lyrics. An accomplished pianist, drummer and visual arts major, Remy understands that the key to creating classic art is depth.
