Skytown is an acoustic guitar driven band with a heavy metal drummer, a funky bass slapper a couple of acoustic guitars and occasionally, a banjo. The early days of Skytown consisted of Dale Crain (Vocals/Lead Guitar), Tim Burress (Vocals/Acoustic Guitar) and Eliot Cooper. (Drums) In 2012 the four started writing and recording original songs. They began playing for friends and family which soon escalated to playing larger house parties. After playing a few small bars and even auditioning potential members, it was by chance Jason Ford was at his local watering hole when he saw the band for the first time. After the show, Jason approached the band asking if they needed another acoustic guitar player. A few weeks later, after a quick audition the band was complete and as they say, the rest is history. The addition on bassist Dave Williams in December of 2014 has further propelled Skytown's growing popularity. After receiving extremely positive feedback from crowds and venue owners they were playing for, the freshly charged Skytown decided it was time to take their music to the masses. After playing just one show with the complete lineup in Tulsa, Skytown has been booked every week, playing upwards of 3 shows a weekend. The band is being contacted on a weekly basis by venues and talent buyers looking to entertain their patrons. Skytown not only packs the house but they also bring it down!
The band is currently booking shows 7 - 8 weeks in advance and doesn't see it slowing down. Major regional festivals and some larger national festivals are booked and are on the horizon for the 2015 festival season - Rocklahoma, Wakarusa, Bike Week at the Legendary Buffalo Chip in Sturgis SD, Backwoods Music Festival - just to name a few!
In late 2014, Skytown traveled to Denver, CO to record their first EP, "Outshine the Sun, with producers Glenn Sawyer and Rich Veltrop (producing credits include: Tom Petty, Rage Against the Machine, Sophie B. Hawkins, Ozzie Osbourne, Pink and many more) at The Spot Studios. Skytown released it's debut single, "Belly of a Whale" in December 2014 on iTunes and dozens more digital distribution sites.
The band is working on their release campaign and expects a physical disc to debut in September 2015 coinciding with a national tour.
