Despicable Dialects / Press

“From this new-on-the-scene "conscious hip-hop duo" composed of MC WORD CHURCH and MROCK comes a solid nine-track release with jazzy, smooth backing and intricate and deep wordplay. While most of the songs are mellow and laid-back mid-tempo jams, the exceptions being the poppy and appropriately titled "Movin' (I Feel Good)" and to lesser extent, "Rhyme and Rhythm." The title cut also stands out, with echo-y vocals and a catchy vibe. Overall, this is a great record to put on and pimply chill, taking in the frictionless flows and soothing instrumentation. The lyrics are uplifting and positive and the mood righteous. Check it out for free at despicabledialects.bandcamp.com”

“Despicable Dialects, featuring the smooth flows of MROCK, and MC WORD-CHURCH, made its debut on the local scene before a raucous crowd at Phil's Radiator. A cerebral, "under-ground"group in the vein of Jurassic Five and Dilated Peoples, Despicable Dialects formed in July after the fall of local faves The Myth of Logik. The duo decided to take it back to the drawing board and rebuild, to make conscious rap with a fresh new sound. Despicable Dialects released an EP, "Living in the Present While Cheating on the Past," which is available online at http://despicabledialects.bandcamp.com/ Look for a review of that disc and more information in an upcoming issue.”
