Artistic, motivated, expressive, innovative, energetic, rousing and humble-Roobens Steve “Rooby Man” Dieujuste hails from the island of Haiti. As a pre-teen, Rooby Man realized his artistry in his affinity for music and a naturally dynamic stage presence. As a youth, Rooby Man was asked to join the Haitian boy band “King of Kings”. Just a few years later, Rooby Man and King of Kings ruled the streets, moved the crowds and rocked the stages of Haiti holding the title of “Best New Hip-Hop/Reggae Group”. Soon after, playing for hundreds of thousands of locals and tourists, they became the winning band in Carnival and were crowned “Most Popular Artist” in the youth category. Eventually, the group disbanded and Rooby Man moved to Chicago. Almost immediately, Rooby Man was asked to join the local band Sakad, later renamed D-Lux. Rooby Man, as lead singer of this kompa band, brought a new style to the arena, mixing in hip-hop and reggae/dancehall, the genres he truly loved. He gained a huge following along with the band but still had hopes of pursuing a solo career, which finally became a reality a few years later. In the last year, Rooby Man has written, co-produced and recorded countless tracks. He has performed many of these, including his hit single “Showtime”, and "she bought it for me" at venues throughout the Chicago-land area. He’s collaborated with other local artists and has been featured on VH1’s “The Hungriest Rapper in Chicago, as well as opening for Chicago’s own R. Kelly at the “12 Play Exclusive All White Affair” with Jive Records artist John Blu. In January of 2011, he had the opportunity to perform at the 30th Annual Chicago Music Awards where Chicago artists such as Kanye West and Jennifer Hudson have previously graced the stage. after completing 2011 European tour, stunning the crowd at la Doumergue stadium in Paris and several other cities, he came back to Chicago with multitude of shows lined up opening for top 40 artist Miguel, Bobby V, Avant, Do or die, Shawnna, Trinna, Willie from day 26, bonecrusher, crucial conflit and he was nominated at the 3rd annual Midwest Rappers Ball.
Rooby man, as a well seasoned writer, producer and performer and with a large international fan base tucked in his belt, has already gathered a local following in chicago and is continuing to connect with a cross cultural audience. With his stunning Caribbean features, energetic stage presence, unique lyrics and vibrant rhythms-Rooby Man draws from the legacy of his heritage fierce and determined to change the games of reggae/ dancehall and pop music now and forever.
