19 months in Iraq as a Marine infantryman and sniper gives a man a lot of solitary time to think. What Daniel thought about mostly was home. Nothing tells the story of home in the U.S. better than country music. While on missions, Daniel would write country songs in his head. When he got back to base, he could put down his gun and pick up his guitar. The songs would then come to life. He would let “Country Music Take Him Home” even though he was 6,000 miles away.
Originally from Dillon, South Carolina, Daniel now calls Nashville, Tennessee home. He says, “I miss my band of brothers in the Marine Corps, but I have found a new band of brothers (and sisters) in Nashville’s songwriting community.” Daniel knows there was a time in his life that he was meant to carry a gun in war. Now, is the time in his life that he is meant to carry a guitar and share his unique blend of country music with the world.
