Ron started his own band at the age of 15. He was involved in various bands throughout the years, including The Rock-A-Billy's with Lead guitarist Fred Calkins and his son Ralph. We played many venues. Later Ginger joined the group. In 1962. Ron moved to California. In 1963, Ron appeared on the Johnny Cash Show at the Mint in Las Vegas, Nevada. In 1980, Ron became Railroad Ron because of his admiration for Boxcar Willie's style of music. Ron joined the "Hummer's Variety Band" in the early '80's and stayed with them for about 12 years. It was a fun group. Ron continued to play solo on his orchestrated keyboard while he was with the Hummers In 1989, Bob joined the Railroad Ron Variety Show, helping with the set-up and tear down of the equipment. In 2003, Bob sang his first song, Just Because Polka. It was the only one he knew at the time. He admits he was mighty scared that day, never singing a day in his life before that. Since then his song list has grown to over 100 songs. He learns them so quickly. There was a time Bob said he disliked polkas, Country and old standards. Now he sings them. Now we are Railroad Ron & Bob. Bob sings a lot of solo songs as well as duets with Ron. Our cd's are heard over various Radio stations. Bob had the chance to sing a song with Karl & the Country Dutchmen at the Leach Amphitheater in Oshkosh, Wi. Ron & Bob also guest with various local groups at times and had the honor to sing with an entertainer in Key West, Florida, as well as a Dixieland group in Laughlin, Nevada.
