Heavy driven guitar riffs energized with pop beats bringing in Motown and reggae tones lay the foundation for indie rock artist Henry Moth’s distinct style. Bands with unique sounds like the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Coldplay serve as inspiration for Henry as his music continues to develop. Henry’s abstract lyrical style leaves room for open interpretations of his songs, “Music is about forming connections with people. It doesn’t matter if someone's interpretation of a song is the same as my intention behind it. If I’ve made someone feel understood that’s all that matters.”
As a London native now living in Orlando, Florida Henry has been consistently exposed to the entertainment industry. Music has always been a way of life from an early age for Henry. Singing along to songs and hitting piano keys to achieve sounds began as soon as he could walk and he received his first drum set at the age of eleven. Continuing to develop his musical talents, Henry picked up on guitar and piano, giving him a multi-instrumental opportunity when approaching his stage performance and songwriting.
At age fourteen, Henry was opening for grammy-nominated acts and traveling with a punk rock band on their national tour. With a constant desire to perform, Henry would even hit the streets of New York City with just his guitar and portable amplifier. “I was never looking for money, I just wanted to play for people -- entertain them.”
During the Summer of 2007, Henry teamed up with local talent to form the alternative rock band The Majestys. With Henry as the bands front man, The Majestys went on to gain international airplay, consistently win battle of the bands, and had secured a weekly gig at the Hard Rock Hotel. For the next five years, The Majestys played the local circuit paying their dues and gaining a local following. However, as time went on music became more of a hobby rather than a career for many of the members.
Unable to imagine life off the stage, Henry recognized the need to branch off as a solo artist. As Henry continues to write and record his debut album, a new and soulful side to his music has emerged. Mellow tones from funk and motown artists infuse into his otherwise energetic beats developing a matured sound for Henry. Inspite of shifting influences he remains true to his alternative rock/pop roots and has successfully crafted a sound that is distinctly Henry Moth.
