The Current incarnation of the band started in 2004 with a band called Callous, where drummer, Matt “Spyke” Maple; Bassist, Mike Parker; and singer/guitarist, Matt Lee first played together.
After some internal differences with the vision of Callous the three of them decided to start a new venture called Echoes Through Chaos (2008-2010). After a short search “ETC” picked up long time friend and fellow guitarist Cody Richardson.
After nearly three years in “ETC” and almost seven years with the core group, Bassist, Mike Parker decided to seek out other ventures of his own. What was nearly the dismantling of the group at the end of 2010, was quickly re-kindled by mid 2011, with Matt, Spyke, and Cody leading the charge. The writing came easy and the pieces were falling back into place with the exception of the hole in the bassist position.
In July of 2011 “ETC” took out ads on Craigslist and met up with former Surface (2000-2009) bassist, Chris Bennett. With similar writing styles it seemed an easy fit into the new direction of the band. After one practice with all four members in the room, it seemed too right to be ignored.
With new beginnings came a new name, or rather a recycled one… What was once a song title (Echoes Through Chaos) bearing reference to the loss of one’s self, and becoming less than human, spawned the band name, Becoming Machine (2011-current).
