Today-due to popular request-I uploaded 2 songs by Grupo Caoba recorded on a 1" * track at Studio Sincro in Guatemala City in 1980-81.One is "Keeping Our Love Alive",and the second(where I do all of the voices)is "The Man I Am".
The musicians were as follows: Julio Enrique Ramirez-Drums(and backing vocal on "Keeping Our Love Alive");Hugo Grijalva-Fender Bass;Byron Menendez-keyboard/synth flute;and the Guatemalan Maestro of the guitar,German Giordano,on guitar.
The recording engineering was done by me and Jorge Martinez, with the executive producer as Cesar Martinez.
Bear in mind that these recordings were made over 30 years ago and were copied from tape or 45 RPM singles. Now you have a peice of my recording history from long ago. These are the only 3 songs on my site so far that do NOT include anyone with a Grammy, though Caoba was the most popular band in Central America by far at the time, playing everywhere on most TV channels and many radio stations throughout the region, and performing 3-4 times per week.
