Singer/songwriter Jessy Tomsko has a love for music that stretches back to early childhood. With her self-penned lyrics and catchy melodies, Jessy celebrates life and love in her acoustic renditions brought to life on the stage and in the studio. Hailing from Philadelphia, Jessy discovered a talent for singing and writing at a young age. After some time spent earning a degree in classical voice, she decided to move to New York City in 2010, independently releasing her debut album "The Light You Make". The album invites the listener to take part in Jessy's honest and unguarded musical interpretation of life's virtues and melancholies. The soft, lilting melodies featured on the record showcase her vocal skills, finessed with years of classical training.
Jessy's work is infused with a lightness and warmth that is equally embodied in her live performances. Maintaining a busy performance schedule, she has played at such prominent venues as Rockwood Music Hall, Joe's Pub, and The Bitter End in NYC and World Cafe Live and Sellersville Theater in Philadelphia, as well as major events such as the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, Cape May Singer/Songwriter Festival, the Wave Gathering Music Festival in Asbury Park, and the Beta Hi-Fi Emerging Artist Festival at World Cafe Life (presented by WXPN). She has also had the honor of sharing the stage with such notable artists as Loudon Wainwright III, Joan Osborne, Ari Hest, David Berkeley, Amber Rubarth, and Chris Trapper of The Push Stars.
After some studio experimenting for several years (which resulted in one EP and several singles), Jessy teamed up with producer Michael McCoy in 2013 to record her new record "Big Hearts", a five song EP that features her strongest writing and performances to date. Utilizing her growing and loyal fan base, she was able to crowd-fund to make this record, a project she personally supervised. This effort makes this record especially organic and genuine, and is evidence of her fans' support for her music. Folky, fresh, and alive, this collection moves through joy, pain, fear, hope, and love in Jessy's catchy yet confessional style, and showcases her artistic and vocal maturity, taking new risks that pay off. "Big Hearts" was released in May 2014. Jessy is currently in the studio working on a new record.
