Funky Bluester has been earning a reputation as a must-see live blues act in Atlanta and around the southeast. Drawing from influences in blues, jazz and R&B the trio pumps out gritty, grinding, and swinging blues that hearken back to the alleys of Chicago and the roadhouses of Texas. Powerful, stinging guitar and vocals by D.L. Peterson combined with the booming bass of Russell Boyer and the metronome funk of the mighty Myles Mattison make Funky Bluester a force to be reckoned with.
Recent shows in Atlanta include the legendary Blind Willie's Blues Club, Fat Matt's Rib Shack, The Northside Tavern, and The Moonshadow Tavern. Funky Bluester has also taken the stage at the famous 40 Watt Club in Athens, the Wayfarer Music Hall in Monroe, and numerous local festivals and establishments in Atlanta and the southeast.
Funky Bluester has performed as a featured act at the Sounds of Summer Downtown Concert Series in Monroe, GA, the Autumn Heritage Festival in Loganville, GA and a featured headlining act at the Columbia County Blues, Brews, and BBQ festival in Augusta, GA. Funky Bluester has also had the honor of being the host band for an Atlanta Blues Society meeting.
The band is comprised of experienced, mature musicians who have a genuine desire to provide the highest level of musicianship at every engagement.
Funky Bluester is a member of the Atlanta Blues Society and is based out of Monroe, GA.
