With a genre encompassing rock, reggae, funk, r&b, and soul, major influences include: Incubus, The Police, Jamiroquai, 311, Pepper, Bob Marley, The Cure, Journey, Prince, Lionel Ritchie, John Brown's Body, and both roots reggae and island reggae music.
Comprised entirely of music major graduates, the members of Kabbage have strong classically trained backgrounds with keen ears for instrumentation and arranging popular music.
Kabbage first formed in 2004 when Kekai Enomoto (vocals) and Steve Kane (guitar) met as guitar majors at SOU in Ashland, Oregon. They grew up in Hawaii and were asked to play at a Hawaiian dance on campus with original members Matt Fujikawa (ukulele), Dustin Lichty (bass), and Jack Morrison (drums). 2006 brought percussionist Reed Bentley (aka "the Reed") to Kabbage offering more rhythmic electricity to the group. The band had a reincarnation in 2008 with the addition of George Arnall on his low-tuned fretless bass, Chris Matthews on keys, Nick Waroff on alto saxophone, and Sedi Waroff on trombone. Since that period, Kabbage has consistently expanded the boundaries of its sound exciting fans new and old.
(The horn section is currently on hold as the Waroff brothers are on hiatus out of state pursuing educational endeavors)
