New Breedz Namibia / Bio

NEW BREEDZ is a hip hop alternative group originally from Walvis Bay, Namibia; the group is made up of two lyricists Prolyrikal aka Pro and Jay. The group was formed in late 2009 and initially consisted of five members but later transformed into a duo. The lads are not fulltime musicians but rather use music as a form of artistic expression of their creativity, emotions and viewpoint of life in its broadest. The duo are working on their debut untitled offering due for commercial release this year. Known for their versatility, creative hard hitting metaphors, local references and playful wordplay, the two mc’s lyric chemistry is almost tangible and is the definition of new school rap. Their first official single “Want it All” released early 2011 was an instant hit among the Namibian youth and topped Wufo Fm’s freshmen charts for 9 weeks straight. The duo were at first reluctant to put the track on the local airwaves as they were not sure how the Namibian ear will respond to their new brand hip hop style. After the track’s positive response from the States and Namibian streets, they felt obliged to put it on local radio. It received discernable airplay on various local radio stations and remained on the Energy HipHop and RNB countdown for 2 months. Their earliest work includes “The Rebirth”, which had the streets abuzz in 2009. Since then the duo has gone on to work with a couple of American producers, a few Namibian artists and shared a stage with South African trio teargas.
