Rachel Mac / Bio

Rachel Mac has been carefully honing her skills as a singer & songwriter since writing her first "love song" at the grand old age age of nine! Influenced by every day life, the people she meets, history, politics, folklore, nature, the weather and most importantly, her muse and love, her steady stream of songs has flowed ever since. Her songs are often autobiographical & deeply emotional, delivered with an honesty and innocence that compels you to listen. Her down-to-earth performance style and cheerful personality give her a stage presence which is both magnetic & diasrmingly charming.

Rachel has sung & written songs for bands of many different genres ranging from progressive rock and blues through to ambient dance and power-pop & she is also an accomplished musical theatre performer and is no stranger to operatic singing. Her extensive back catalogue of songs reflects this eclectic range of influences, but it is the lilting melodies, heart felt lyrics & real life stories of folk music that have worked their way under her Celtic skin, stirring her soul and imagination to allow her to pen her most recent songs.

In 2011, Rachel swapped the familiar coastline of North Wales, where she grew up, for that of the chalky cliffs of East Sussex and she now lives near Brighton where she has teamed up with her partner, fellow songwriter, musician & producer Dean Van Jones at Oscillate Recordings in order to write & record her first solo album.

Rachel is also one third of acoustic folk-rock trio "The Halo Project"; a team of three seasoned song writers who specialise in performing three part vocal harmonies accompanied by some breath-taking & technical musicianship on twelve string guitar.
The Halo project released their debut album "Solgard" on 27.06.2014.
