I am a singer and songwriter of country/crossover music. My writing/singing style is on the lines of Shania Tawin, Sheryl Crow, Miranda Lambert, Taylor Swift and others. I love to write/sing/record/perform any chance that I get. I frequent open mic nights, small family oriented gigs, and recording projects for other artists.
My writing consists of love songs but also life songs, like growing up, struggling through life, enjoying life, etc... My goal as a songwriter is to "hit" people inside and make them say "That's how I feel!", and bring good family enjoyable songs to the radio. I love music but I am unhappy with a lot of what is being put on radio so I am here to hopefully change that!
I grew up in a family of music. Both sides of my family are musically talented. My mother's father played in numerous bands playing the saxophone, accordian and other instruments. My mother's brothers also played in bands with my grandpa, playing drums, guitar, and bass. My father's side of the family is musically talented also. For several years my uncle Kenny was a major orchestra conductor and composer in Nevada at the major casinos in Reno and Lake Tahoe, for performers like Frank Sinatra, Merle Haggard and many more. My father plays lots of instruments from the trumpet to the bass to the guitar and was a member of many bands through-out the years. My brothers also play almost every instrument. My brothers Chris and Greg and my Dad also all write music. My two sisters have beautiful voices and play some instruments as well. They are all very talented! So, you can see that music is in my blood!
I started playing the piano at an early age, imitating my father and brothers. In grade school I participated in music class playing flutaphones, piano, xylaphones and so on and performing in numerous programs. In high school I joined the women's choir and performed in many concerts, solos and ensembles. I also joined the high school band and played the flute and saxophone. When I was 14 my father taught me how to play rythum guitar and the first song I learned was "House of the Rising Sun". I would then listen to songs on the radio and learned how to play the guitar by ear. On my 16th birthday, my parents bought me my first guitar. That was the start of many great things to come!
I was listening to Shania Twain's album, "Come On Over" when I got the inspiration to write my first song, which was called "You and I (Will Always Be). I then fell in love with writing and couldn't stop!
In 2005 William Byron Hillman, director/producer/actor of Destiny Worldwide Entertainment, signed "For You to Know" to use as a song in their independent film, and soundtrack, "Mr. Toy", now available for purchase.
In 2010 I signed a contract with a Nashville Song Pitcher who is actively pitching my music to artists.
