Golgotha / Bio

The saga began in mid 2002 when Jose Castro(Keyboardist/Lyricist)Started to compose many songs. He was very much influenced by classical and opera music but also heavy metal and goth metal.Mixing them all together had seemed impossible, but after a while he established a sound for his music.Metal and Classical equally combined into one.Seering sting melodies with heavy guitars equally working hand-in-hand. Crown Of Thorns was not the intentions of Jose.He started composing songs for his solo career after the refusal of a major R&B record deal.He felt as though he needed to reach for a place he couldn’t go doing R&B.So he decided to work with his two strongest passions-Metal and Classical. After about a year of writing,Jose noticed something missing. He could not play piano, drums guitars and bass alone. He then recruited his brother,Chris, and they began to work together on Jose’s music for a couple of weeks. They then met Abriel Griffin who played guitar. The three worked together for a while. In 2005,they decided to do an EP entitled Ghost.Everything was going great except the fact that Jose wrote too many songs to choose from.So they chose to do a whole album, still keeping the title “Ghost”(2006).The album,Ghost, held 15 songs. The most loved songs on the album we put onto myspace where they received thousands of plays. The songs"Lost",“Ghost”,“Far Away”and "Dreamcatcher"were 4 of the most listened to songs from the album. About a month after the album was complete,Chris and Jose lost touch with Abriel and started a search for a new guitarist. While searching,Jose was writing songs for a follow-up for Ghost. There were many fill-ins for the recording process of the follow-up because the guys couldn’t find anyone to replace Abriel. They decided to do the 2nd album anyway. The follow-up to Ghost was untitled for a while until Jose came up with"End Of An Era",reflecting on the past of the band and the start of a new time for the band.“End Of An Era” held 13 songs. The song,“Imaginary”,was the most listened to song on the album as well as on their myspace. That song alone received thousands of plays and also helped them become known in their city by many. After the release to the 2nd album,Jose announced that he would be stepping down as the lead singer. He also announced that he would be auditioning Women to be the ’Frontwoman" of the band.As soon as that hit the internet there were women all over wanting to audition. The Audition was only for 3 weeks.People sent in over 100 demos through mail and internet, but very few came to meet the guys in person.most special from them all was Amanda Lerlo. The band decided to name her as their frontwoman.Soon after, the guys recruited Rowan Alicea to the band as their guitarist and began to start a new project. While in the middle of recording the album, the guys decided to fire Amanda for lack of commitment. They then began a new search for a frontwoman.About a week into the search, the guys chose Lauren Malone. The guys also then recruited Charles Anderson and Lisa Ortiz. Things went really well until Lisa quit.Charles quit soon after Lisa and it all slowly fell apart. Jose ended up recording all vocals on the album.

In Fall of 2009, Jose and Chris decided to create a whole new concept for the band under a new name-Golgotha-with Jose back in his original spot as the singer. They recorded and released an album entitled Apocalyptica with Andrew Fafalios(Lead Guitars) and Rob Keizer(Rhythm Guitara) and Kory(Bass).Andrew quit the band and the others followed.

In summer of 2011 Jose contacted Camille Ponvil, who was a guest vocalist on previous projects to come back to the band and she accepted. That fall and winter they prepared to record a new album. On their website they announced they were releasing an album in late 2013 called Out Of The Ashes, which first single (Swim)was released in June 2013 followed by two more (Lost In Limbo, Asleep) within the following month.
