WhiteChapel District came together over a decade ago, primarily as a cover-band, featuring Tim Simon (vocals), Tim Burford (drums), Chris Bowe (guitar), and Jimmie Barker (bass). After Bowe departed to concentrate on his other band, War Creek Mafia, the band went through a myriad of guitarists for several years. In late 2009, the band teamed up with guitarists Michael Workman (ex-War Creek Mafia, currently with Miniature Giant) and Thom Copher (ex-Skeleton bassist), but personnel differences led to Barker and Workman leaving WCD in early 2011. Copher then assumed bass duties and Bowe rejoined as the band agreed to pursue a power-trio format. WCD also rededicated itself as an original unit which would incorporate its collective influences. Rejuvenated with its new direction, the band boasts an ecclectic mix with its self-penned tunes over which elements of thrash, old-school metal, classic rock, and even funk can be heard. WCD will be releasing its debut, nine-song record via all of the major digital locations (iTunes, Google Play, Amazon, CDBaby, Spotify, etc.) on June 17; pre-release purchase will be exclusively on iTunes on June 6. So far, the reviews have been favorable: "The most original band in the Kanawha Valley" and "(WCD) dares to execute music that other bands wish they could" are just a couple of positive reviews.
