Reneé Austin / Bio

Maybe you saw her on Morgan Freeman's Blues Diva's on PBS? Or, you may have caught her singing live for a season-opener for the WWE SmackDown with 6 million viewers? Six-time Minnesota Music Award winner and WC Handy nominee Reneé Austin calls her music a mix of traditional gospel, r & b, classic soul and old school country.

Raised in Kingsland, Texas, the multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter rose to national attention in 2003 with her first international release, Sweet Talk which included the spine tingling duet "Pretend We Never Met" with 4-time Grammy Winner and fellow Texan - Delbert McClinton.

Austin has released 3 CD’s: Dancin' With Mr. Blue (which garnered 3 MN Music Awards including the coveted Female Vocalist of the Year), Sweet Talk (which garnered a WC Handy Nomination for Best New Artist), and Right About Love. Austin has shared the stage with such artists as Jonny Lang, Los Lobos, Blues Traveler, The Kentucky Headhunters, Big Head Todd & The Monsters, Keb' Mo, Vonda Shepard (Ally McBeal), Robert Cray, Tommy Castro and Sonny Landreth.

Sadly, just two short weeks after the release of her third CD - Right About Love with CMT interest in her U-Haul music video, Reneé's singing career was halted just as her star was rising. Tragedy struck when a during a surgical procedure Austin's left vocal nerve became paralyzed. Unable to speak above a whisper, much less sing, Austin began a new life, discovering her purpose without music.

Yet, after years of struggle and heartache God revealed her life and music were far from finished. Austin experienced a series of miracles and her voice returned. "I never thought I would speak or sing again. I had resigned myself to the fact, it was over. But God!” Now she has been given a second chance to do the thing she loves most. She is able to share her story and perform her original songs for the One who gave her voice and music back to her. Her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Since the return of her voice, Reneé has become an ordained pastor, attended Actors Model and Talent for Christ (AMTC) in Orlando FL which has opened new doors in acting/film/comedy. She is currently the worship leader both at Cityview Church and Friday Night Fire meetings in Minneapolis. She has ongoing invitations to sing at well known Christian conferences such as The Twin Cities Prophetic Conference (2013-2016) and Women On the Frontlines (WOTF) Twin Cities (2016). XP Ministries & WOTF Founder Patricia King has just invited Reneé to sing at the 2017 WOTF World Convention in Phoenix, AZ.

Reneé's heart has always been to be a light in the darkest places and she continues to play at large secular music festivals and venues sharing God's love with those in the audience. Austin is very excited to speak at conferences, concerts, retreats and events sharing her miracle story and performing songs from her past, as well as brand new songs she has written since her life-changing miracle experience. God has been using her to bring His message of hope and love to the world. Her testimony is simple, " God is real, He loves you and miracles still happen. I know... because I am one." Now who doesn't need to hear that?
