Nominated Best Score for 2013 48hr Guerilla Film Challenge, Brittany Elliott has come a long way to become what she is today. A 7th generation farmer in a historical valley in the Catskills of New York, she gained a passion for composing music.
Born and raised on a historical family farm tucked in the valleys, Brittany used to watch many movies growing up. From the old Disney films to Black and White Westerns to the old Classics, she became familiar with the music and the moods in the film. In her early years, she fiddled around an old broken piano out of tune with multiple split notes and cracked keys. Little did she know, she was going to become a composer. From an extended size musical family, this girl has got something no other family member has: Love for composing.
Graduated from Hartwick College, Oneonta, NY in 2011, she majored a B.A. Degree in Music Performance with a concentration on Flute. In her college years, she participated in many instrumental groups such as: Pep Band, Wind Ensemble, College Choir, Flute Choir, Saxophone Quintet, Madrigals and Rock Orchestra. Brittany played and still does play many instruments: Flute (piccolo, flute, alto and bass flute), piano, saxophones (alto and tenor) and her newest edition, the Native American Flute.
In her last year of college, she became very interested in music for films. How they came about, how music for films were born, etc. For almost a year she researched as much as she could about film music and soon became admired by it.
After her college career ended, she took an online course from Berklee Music School to abroad herself in writing. Since then, she has been working on creating beautiful melodies, flowing harmonies and catchy rhythms. Although she doesn't have a lot of things a composer should have, she does what she can to make it to the silver screen. Or anywhere for that matter.
Her dream is to make wonderful music for films or anything in the entertainment business for you to listen to.
Thank you for listening to Brittany's music and spread the word!
She is currently living on the farm keeping the family tradition of farming going, performing her compositions at events and writing music for films and radio.
